Description
This table came together from left over pieces from other projects. Some of the wood was in pretty rough shape but there was still something to work toward in there. I enjoy sanding and shaping a piece of wood. There’s a connection to process that doesn’t involve any set rules other than to be mindful of what you’re taking off as you work toward the picture you have of the outcome. Then you satisfy yourself with getting as close as you can to that image.
The old saying, “No mud, no lotus.” tells us that out of dukkha comes awakening. The roots of the lotus are down deep in the muck but the bloom remains untouched; unable to be soiled even. There were saw marks, gouges and knotholes in the wood but the shape was there and the “mud” just needed to be removed. That and a coat of paint.
The tree is a trio of trunks of a wild caught privet. I’m not sure what the stone is. It has very thin veins of quartz and a lovely mountain shape.
The picture hanging in the background is part of my Meditation Series. I’ll have this and several others up on the site soon.
