Each leg is hand shaped in this unique organic design. The legs grow from a stable trunk into two branches that cradle the table top. Made from reclaimed decking and a birch plywood top. The mahogany stain gives the wood a richness and depth that will serve as a beautiful accent to your prized tree or stone.
Overall size: 12.5” x 12.5” x 4”, table top: 12” x 11.875”

This was such a fun build. The legs are each shaped from 2 pieces that were cut as mirrors of each other, then glued up, and sanded to shape. A nice 80 grit on the belt sander removed material efficiently but with enough control to take the time and refine the shape.

Description


I knew I was going to make a lot of sawdust shaping the legs for this table so I did my shaping outside. It was a sunny late summer day; nice and warm. Everything was still green and vibrant. The sun stayed out past 6:00pm. It was a meditative process to shape and compare each leg. To keep working the shape across the spinning sanding belt until all four legs were complete. Like any art piece, knowing when you’re done is as much a part of the process as knowing where to start.

The plywood top has a bit of a bend to it but it is very stable with a heavy tree on it.

The tree is a wild caught privet that’s been training for about 2 and a half years.
