I bought these two gingko at the October 2022 Knoxville Bonsai Society Bonsai show. They were part of a batch of seedlings that were $5 each or 5 for $20. I purchased 3 gingkoes and a few other species. Unfortunately, the larger single gingko didn't survive a particularly cold spell in January of 2023. We hit single digits for several days. This now seems to be a recurring weather pattern and I have learned better ways to protect the trees during such extreme low temps.
I'm particularly fond of gingkoes from having a beautiful female gingko in my yard as a teenager. She would drop seeds every year. I wish I had been more prescient and collected seeds and grown saplings. They'd be huge by now. Hindsight is 20/20.
I put these two together to grow them as a spilt trunk. Since they're in a small training pot they're growing very slowly. They're about 14" tall in an 8" rectangle pot
